DO YOU REMEMBER?
DO YOU REMEMBER last autumn, saturated with damp, cool and colour? Do you remember how it was filled with a brief and incredulous interlockdown bustle – a faint resemblance to our pre-pandemic life?
I do. I was in Grasmere then. I would circle the lake from sunrise till noon; sit on the shore, sip my morning coffee and gaze at the water and trees and the fells beyond. It felt sublime.
How well I remember that!
